I've been testing this prototype of a new shield/breakout for my 3.5" touchscreens and it's working!
Here are the improvements:
1. Only requires the upper row of pins, P16..P31
2. Does this using 4 pins of an I2C PCA9554 I/O expander, leaving 4 digital I/O pins for other uses
3. Brings out the 4 analog voltage/battery voltage ADC inputs of the touchscreen chip for other uses.
4. Uses 8 pins for colors, increasing color depth from 6-bit to 8-bit.
5. Board is much smaller, should cost less.
Here's a screen shot:
But, right now, I'm considering adding in the lower row of Prop Platform pins, even though they aren't used. I think that will make it easier for people to mount and be more secure. But, it will add to the cost a hair...

MountianKing Technology gave me at UPEW 2012..
It actually works very nicely and looks great.
I had to add in washers between the top bezel and the plate underneat to make the touchscreen work,
but othewise works perfectly.

I've been wanting to get into a touch screen.
This looks like it may be just the trick!!
Thanks, Ray.
