The XBee product line is quite expansive so we try to add value to the sales side by keeping you informed of changes and providing accurate recommendations to our customers. We shall keep our Parallax XBee product selection simple and well-supported.
Important notice: XB24-ACI-001 will be replaced with XB24-API-001 in Fall 2011
The XBee 1mW Chip Antenna (XB24-ACI-001) http://tinyurl.com/3u85doz will be End of Lifed (EOL'd) in exchange for a new manufacturers part number XB24-API-001. This change eliminates the chip antenna from the top of the PCB and puts it inside of the modules PCB. The performance is identical or maybe even slightly better.
Parallax will stock the old and new model under our current stock code 32404 but will change the manufacturer part number we purchase to be XB24-API-001. The reason we are using the same stock code is because the two versions are functionally equivalent. We will make some changes to our web description when the new modules are in stock.
We expect to receive the new XB24-API-001 modules by the second week of September. And customers will also be able to purchase these modules in an XBee Starter Pack available through RadioShack stores by October.
Thanks,
Ken Gracey
