AT24C512 replacement

I know this has been covered before. I've been using the AT24C512 on all my Propeller boards for years.

I know the part is obsolete. It looks like they've finally run out of them everywhere.

What it the best replacement to use that has the same protocol and structure?

Is the M24512 a good choice?

Thank you for your help.

Jim

I am curious. Atmel does not indicate this part is obsolete. In fact they have a relatively new Rev C part.

FindChips shows that plenty of them are available - DigiKey has nearly 4,000 of the TSSOP part and over 8,000 of the SOICs.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I use the narrow AT24C512BN, which is listed as obsolete.

Actually you inspired me. They aren't available at Mouser, Digi-Key, etc. But I did locate some at a place called onlineComponents.com. Anyone familiar with them?

It sounds like I should either buy a bunch now, or switch to a different form factor.

    Thanks for the help.

Is it too problematic to use the slightly wider BW version ?. A modified footprint would cover both. OTOH the even smaller TSSOP version (0.65 mm pitch) could be another option if space is at a premium.

Thanks everyone. I just ordered 25 of them to tide me over for the boards I have.

I'll probably switch to the wider BW part for future boards.
