USB Sniffing With Basic Stamp 2

Hi Everyone,
I work in a wireless medical device research lab and we need to reverse engineer a RF transceiver for one of our projects. The goal is to get the raw data output and use it in our own applications. I stumbled upon the following YouTube video which seems to be very good at helping us achieve my goal:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfCDjwHBBuM
The problem is they are using an Arduino and a USB sniffer "shield". I do not have the budget to spend 70$ on a device that may or may not solve the problem.
I do have a basic stamp 2 and a Texas Instruments launchpad MSP430 in the lab and was hoping that anyone knew of an equivalent "shield" or method of sniffing USB on the BS2?
Thanks,
Ozzy
