I'm going to be hopeful that they address the issues with their parts selection. I don't even care if none of their employees know squat about electronics.

Still, it would be nice if they could know a small bit about electronic parts, I wanted a P channel mosfet,
She said they don't have plumbing parts, and would have to get that at the hardware store...

That's why I try to avoid their staff asking me if I need help. Don't get me wrong, It WOULD be nice if they had more knowledgable employees, but I won't count on that ever happening.
I've been offered jobs there before, because I something. But, yeah, I have a lot better and higher paying job actually using and designing with the electronics, not just selling them. And that is the problem. If you know enough to be competent, you probably already have a job elsewhere.
If the guys working in electronics stores know their stuff why are they not "doing electronics" somewhere instead of just working in a store.
Despite this apparent paradox I have come across some very smart and knowledgeable cookies working in electronics stores.
Mind you, these are not you Radio Shack or Maplins (In the UK) but rather smaller privately run businesses, perhaps surplus stores. Anyone Brits here remember the days of all the surplus electronic shops on Lisle Street in London? http://www.retinascope.co.uk/lislestreet.html

Ken made it sound like he's got the situation under control. Given the history between Parallax and RS, I would be surprised if the Prop wasn't on the short list of microcontrollers RS is planning to carry.. I really hope some are in the form of the protoboard, and the GG board.
I don't worry too much about the quality of the sales staff. As long as they know how to work the register so I can get in and out quickly, I will be a happy camper. I buy 90%+ of my components via Ecomerce but I still find myself at the Shack at least once a month for something that I "just can't wait for". The local store knows me and no longer gets in the way.

The "Super Deal Spotlight" in the email is for the What's a Microcontroller BASIC Stamp Kit.

It's the only major product spotlighted in the email (others are a switch, LED, etc.).

I hope I'm wrong.
