Propeller Hat Logo

Okay, so let's say I've designed a "Propeller" Icon that's based off of Parallax's original "Propeller Hat" Logo.

Is there any restrictions on me releasing it to the General Public?
(I am not using any of the original image, and proportions, viewing angle, and colors are tweaked.)

    Hi ProcessingData...

In the logo realm it's all about application.

So when you say "releasing it to the general public"...to what will the logo be applied? Who will be using it? Where will it go? Is it involved in the sales of a product?

    Cheers, Jen J.

    Jen,

You may have to put the axe back on this. I liked the axe on the avatar.

What was the official ruling of this? I think it got the nod from Ken:

Well, right now I'm using it as a Replacement Icon for the Propeller Tool.

Could I upload it to the forums in a post, and let other people do whatever they want with it?

I walk on slippery slopes all the time, maybe even with Jen this time.

I'm not a lawyer and they typically aren't allowed into the building so you get the mom-and-pop answer.

But look, here's the deal as I see it. If it benefits Parallax in some way then it is fine - I didn't read the thread you referenced but it sounds like you're using it in a Propeller-related application. Unless you're designing a processor to compete with the Propeller or using it in some competitive way it's not a problem. People sell all kinds of beanie-related stuff at the UPE expos. If it's a real issue to Jen (and Parallax) I'll get back to you. I haven't talked to her about it in person.

    Okay, thanks Ken!

I'm attaching the Propeller Hat in *.ico and *.png formats in a zipped folder.

    propellerhat.zip

    Cheers!

I agree with Mr. Ken. He hit on all the points.

I like this rendition of the beanie and I think it would fall under the heading of "cool fan art."
