Elexol I/O24R network issue...

Sorry this isn't specifically about a Parallax product, but with the Elexol I/O24 that we use routinely with our Parallax stuff. I have written to Elexol about the issue, but I thought I'd also see if anyone here has experienced this.
We have been using the older version of the I/O24 with no problems for a couple of years. This week we stuck a new I/O24R in place of an older version, and within 10 or 15 minutes the I/O24R was slamming our network with DHCP requests and our router was responding with the DHCP acks.
I have done some fairly extensive network snooping and the problem is repeatable almost to the exact same timing. If you power-up or reboot the module, it sits there fat and happy for about 10 minutes. Then you will see a DHCP request come in (followed by the router's ack). In about 5 minutes (half of the initial 10 minutes) another one. Then half again, and again until your network is flooded by DHCP requests.
Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions?
