OBEX won't let me on but they are working on it. I just established my YouTube account and uploaded my first ever video clip. Needless to say there is room for improvement. Brian at uController.com will of course like where we are going with this project.

I just changed it's attribute with YouTube from private to public. Hope it works now

And here is the link to the OBEX upload:

For anyone curious about the BS2 tachometer here is the link to that:

What the heck, put me down for the Gadget Gangster contest.

I looked up ECM on Google.

I figured this might not be an Enterprise Content Management even though it was the first Wikipedia link so I looked under electronics.

How cool! An Electronic Counter Measures project.

I suppose it could be Electronically Commutated Motor. That would be a cool project too.

I do which people (this isn't the only thread I've had to look up an abbreviation) wouldn't assume everyone else knows the initials of everything (even the initials everyone should know).

Now back to working on my PS2 project. What? PS2 isn't obvious either? PlayStation 2. I'm using a PS2 controller to control my robot.

BTW Cool project. I like the combination of visual and audio feedback. Thank you for taking the time to document it.

I hope you enjoy the Prop. I think it's a lot of fun.

In the common american automobile the engine brain is some times referred to as an Engine Control Module (ECM). There is an SAE standard for the OBD-II diagnostic port and this simulator generates the same tachometer pulse as the OBD-II port if you were to hook a common tachometer up there. I have expansion room in the project to also simulate the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) pulse signal for my Propeller based programmable speedometer. My little Toyoto Yaris uses a serial com link between the dash dimmer switch and the ECU. When programming in the dimming of my Prop bases dash board display I will also be able to use this twisted pair to syncronize brightness of my display with that of the OEM dash board.

OK, with the help of Dan McGlade I was able to OBEX post the software for this experiment. Thanks to all the forum members that helped me get the kinks out of getting every thing presented so far. Now I just need to finish up the schematic sketches and get them on here. Quoting another member: "it ain't rocket surgery".
