Check out this Ebay China 4-legged walker kit. 8 servos, no processor, Arduino suggested (?). But you MUST click on the embedded Youtube-ish video which has 4 strobing blue LEDs. Looks like 1 per leg, just looping around, but quite a dramatic effect. It might be cool to trigger each one specifically when the leg moves or makes ground contact.

I got mine about a week ago... I can't wait to build it, but I have a deadline to take care of first.

Of course I will be using RoboProp to control it...

This is the quad my good friend Russell Cameron designed for DAGU, the manufacturer. I don't know who the eBay seller is, but these are available for less at RobotShop (and cheaper shipping).

I haven't tried a kit yet, but the parts are the same as that on Russell's caterpillar robot. Looks like they updated the servos, but whatever make they are, treat them with care. These micro servos aren't as hardy as the standard kind you may be familiar with. I stripped out one by being careless with it. The custom plastic parts are very sturdy.

You can see some of Russell's "action videos" here:

Russell also won the upcoming robot contest in MAKE Online:

It's a walking robot made out of Polymorph plastic and ordinary chopsticks (unused, I assume, but not strictly necessary). And yes, even Chopsticks-the-Robot has good taste in reading material!

PS: Bill, I assume you and Russell connected.

    Gordon,

I really like the chopsticks robot. Thanks for the link.

I already like Polymorph. Great stuff.

So many robots, so little time.
