" ELFish Propeller PC " inc Bluetooth

I needed desperately a "mini" platform for development .
All i have basically done is sit the propeller usb board into an ic socket and soldered 2 IDE diskdrive sockets either side, this allows me to use the system like
a breadboard for experimentation. On the back i have wired in sockets for ps2 mouse & keyboard, stereo audio jack socket , composite video and a BlueTooth/USB port.
My Wii-camera plugs straight into the ide socket.......
It looks a simple concept......but i have to say it took hours to make.......some enterprising Parallaxer could make a PCB.......

and..........thanks to the work done by scanlime

For the cost of 4 resistors and a cheap Bluetooth dongle - my ELFish pc goes Bluetooth.

With this minimal framework i am building some "Apps" for my Android Mobile phone
using the "Android ADK environment" ,it allows me to control my projects remotely via BlueTooth.

Here is my simple "BlueTooth" App ........ Left-Right-Forward-Backward-speedbar,textbar,&2 spare buttons

When i press the "Right" button then its sent over the BlueTooth serial tube to the propeller board (as the letter R) ....
The Propeller then sends back the value to the Android and displayed to the screen as a handshake.....

This looks pretty awesome. Are you planning to post the code for this project?

    Excellent!

Details please???? Especially interested in how you are doing your Bluetooth. That could be very useful around here.

Neat project! But I clicked on the title expecting to see an electroluminescent fish! :)

I absolutely love it. Excellent work with a such a tiny form factor. I have been thinking of making something similar with one of my M44D40+ modules for a simple device that connects to a TV. Since I still have a few propsticks, I may try your method for a full blown setup with USB. Again, very nice work, can't wait to see more details.

ps: just realized that I have two of those $2 Bluetooth dongles used in the scanlime link you mentioned.

.... no room for a HT voltage inverter for EL light-cabling Phil !!! - though strapped to an electric eel it would "green" power it.

Your modules look very neat Andrew - If you plan to install USB/BlueTooth then the Crystal has to be vamped up to 6 Meg (i noticed 5megs on your modules).
I received a deal-extreme $1.80 BT today but i am having trouble linking to to...... have to dig deeper.

Thanks. The crystal change would be no problem as they are socketed using machined pin sockets from Samtec.

    Great project.

There are some really tiny bluetooth modules for $1-$2 on eBay. I bought two different ones but underneath the covers they are identical. No time to try them yet though.

    Great news. Congratulations !!!

I can see my $1.35 & $1.55 bluetooths coming out of the box :) (they are tiny and I bought them from buyincoins.com)

Free-forming requires a sense of 3d space (and determination......and luck) ....... 4D soldering irons is what we need for prototyping.....
....... or my trusty solder reel with third hand....

nice project! read a few objects on scanlime's site, awesome professional object. I'm subscribed to this thread, will be watching for a link to the android app (i have DROID X) :) and associated serial object... i love to tinker, could make an app to monitor my amplifier temps, or monitor things going on under my hood, or control stuff inside the car like automating power windows, HVAC, and such.. Please keep us updated on the android app/bridge.

    Gareth:

Outstanding project. I hope eventually you can show us more detail with a drawing and code so we can build one. I like the third hand.

    Thanks for the encouragement.......
Everything so far has been "off the cuff" so i have no documentation - only results i am afraid.
Saying that everything you see is gleamed out of this site and users of this site, all i have done is create a mould-able small form - many of my projects have tight frameworks ..... hence the need for an adaptable squeezed system.

I can see Your Super Brain project would profit from a "Bluetooth Cortex" hehe
