TTL conversion to a stamp

I have an older skeeball game that uses TTL. I have a schematic of the unit. How do I, or can I, change to a new chip. I have limited experience in electronics. I can troubleshoot the old boards but don't think I can draw a schematic for a new one. Thanks in advance.

If it was built using TTL hardware, the Stamp won't be fast enough.

This response doesn't really make sense to me. How much processing speed do you really think a skeeball machine requires?

I think that a Stamp should be able to handle the job. I think the original poster needs to provide some more details about which aspects of the machine he wants to control.

Will it be monitoring switches (seeing where the ball goes, for example)? Will it need to drive the score display?
