I have been ordering some small items from ebay to evaluate them.
I'm assembling a really inexpensive collection of items that people
reading my C book for AVR will need to have to do the experiments.

Not all the stuff has arrived yet, I'm still waiting on the soldering irons
and small hand tools to come in. I found some nice little experimenter
PC boards for a bit less than .17 USD each and that includes shipping.
That is really cheap! These can be handy for quick one-off projects.

My cousin is going to bundle these items together and sell them as
a package for those working along with the book. It is shaping up to be
the lowest cost uC startup kit I have ever seen. And since the book is
to be free it will mean that someone can get off the ground for very
little $

The two little USB ISP programmers in the images are 7.90 and 10.50
each, delivered. The larger one is functionally identical to the kit that Limour sells
over at AdaFruit for around 26.00 with shipping.

The book is in 4 sections. Tiny85 C projects, Atmega328p projects, atmega1284p
projects and a last section on using the Propeller as a sound and graphics
engine for 8bit AVR uCs. the first section is now finished except for proofreading
and making sure the ebook version is set up properly.

I will add items to this post as they come in from China...I got really good buys on
IC sockets, zeners, xtals and small tools.

    The PC boards look like a fun and useful addition to the shop - at .17 each, my mistakes are affordable!!

    I'm looking forward to your book. I have nothing against multi-vendor applications!

    This is no better than those cheap solar LED flashlights
    you turned up. I finally ordered some of those. I want to
    see if I can cram a tiny85 project inside one. I ordered the
    pretty green model.

    A solar rechargeable combo TV-B-Gone and LED light maybe.

    These .17 PCBs are small but you can build a real project on them.
    One for section two of my C book is a USB connected chip programmer.
    It's brain is a 328p and it does USB1.1 with the V-USB code.
    A 40-pin Universal ZIF fits very nicely on these small boards and leaves
    plenty of room for the 328p and the few other parts.
    (I got the ZIFs for an incredible price)

    I wonder if I could get the chip programmer project to take the place of
    the prop plug? That would be nice because then the reader would not need
    a prop plug to program the eeprom for section 4. You could just drop the
    eeprom into the bottom 8 slots and write the hex file to it.

    Thanks for the post. The small prototyping board may be a good use for me. :)
