I actually have about a half dozen of these... they work, but they tend to pop pretty easily (why do you think I bought so many!) I bought them a while back for $1.99 each. The only problem I have is that they don't have a continuity tester (buzzer) in them, but for $1.99 (or free in this case) they're a real bargain!

erco, time to come clean and fess up. Are you a hoarder?

I haven't seen a deal you could resist, on-line, at Home Depot, Harbor Freight, or anywhere else.

Would be interesting to see how you respond to the junk table at UPE events.

Can you provide us with some photos of your collection of electronic and mechanical bits and pieces?

    Your brother in plywood,

@MyPlyBro: I only hoard the good stuff.

The rest goes in the garage.

    Just in case.

Didja see my latest plywood 'bot in the early phases? http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?132260-Smart-Bumper-for-Robot&p=1009763&viewfull=1#post1009763

It will be if I move the things stacked on top of it to inside it... probably shoulda gotten the 4-door. But that '67 Monza coupe looks 2 sweet.

I had forgotten all about Harbor Freight, hadn't bought anything from them in years. There's a store about 25 miles away - I may have to wander over there this week-end.

If you need something to purchase to qualify for the free meter, here's a useful item for builder types if you don't already have one.

    6" Digital Calipers

Only bad thing about them is no auto-off, and even when turned off they still slowly drain the battery. Take the battery out if you don't plan to use it for a while. Accuracy and construction are very good though.

    Car... check.
    Garage... check.
Office (aka library aka computer room aka junk room)... check.

    Bathroom?
Are you one of those people who just has to make sure that the GFI outlet is REALLY off after you've pressed the TEST button? (I resemble that remark) :)

c'mon erco, curiously speaking...let's see a photo of all the super ebay buys and great deal stuff you're hoarding in your garage storage laboratory! It must look magnificent! Probably seeing that for the first time would either be a shock or religious experience from which we could all learn. Too bad about the homeless car. I suggest a carport next to the garage. That's what I'm planning to build.

The EEVBLOG guy would scoff at those cheap Multimeters and crush them underfoot. :-)

But I like them, the yellow ones from HF that have the LED backlight are the best.

    I miss HF...sigh
