    Thanks for sharing that. I would have probably missed it.

    He was my favorite author in the 80's when I read every single EDN. I still have his articles cut out and archived.

    He defiantly will be missed.

    Jim Williams was the lion of linear (and Linear) technology. His columns, articles, and appnotes have informed and inspired me for many, many years. And now his passing has created a none-too-subtle disturbance in the Force. He will be missed.

    The article and followup comments are heartfelt, and I want to add my thanks and tribute too. It is remarkable that Jim Williams did not have formal training in electronics or electrical engineering, but more than compensated with an uncanny intuition and years of experience at the forefront of instrumentation and applications. His sense for precision and practicality spilled over into all the products from Linear Technology, top notch stuff. I learned so much by studying his circuit ideas.
