Any issues with stealing SD pins?

I need to control 17 I/O lines from my Spinneret. I have driven a pair of 595s from the Aux pins and it works fine, but not quite fast enough for my application...even with the tightest ASM shift routine.
So, I need to get back to some level of parallel output. I don't need the SD functionality, the LED, or SIO, so I was thinking of using all of P16 thru P27 for my needs.
Besides cutting traces to the SIO and LED hardware, anyone see any problem in this plan before I ruin a perfectly good Spinneret?

I'm not sure if you could divide the problem between the Props and keep the speed you need. I just hate to see such cruelties to a Spinneret.
BTW, welcome to the forum.
