Hey folks, just finished my communication-hub-uber-transmitter (of Death). Man, am I happy with what I was able to stuff into this guy...

On the power supply side of this project is the Li po battery used directly, or have you used some sort of buck-boost?
The lipo is a single cell (what is that? 2.7v 3.2v? 3.7v? somewhere around there) and goes to this guy. You get your boost to 3.3v or 5v (solder-bridge selectable) and built in "USB" (5v 500mA) charging. Not bad for $20. The battery is so small and with the boost, it eliminates the need for a ton of AA's to bring you above the level of a "regular" volt reg. Obviously, you loose some current-sucking ability during the boost but without motors --no problem.
Oh well, I have fortunately got enough lipo cells to go for the 8.4V - 5v - 3.3v route but it would take 80% of the volume that your remote takes. I did have a bunch of phone batts in a keyboard but they eventually failed and so the DracBlade in a Compaq KBD became less self contained.
