I just ran across these at Mouser, they look pretty nifty. There are some that appear to be drop-in replacements for character LCDs (2x16 and 4x20). Unfortunately the color choices could be better, mostly yellow and green. There is a blue in the 2x16, but it won't be in stock until August. I may have to buy a green one just to see how they look.

I'm interested to find out if they have fixed the burn-in problem yet. I had a small dot-matrix OLED display a few years ago. After only about 10 hours of displaying some static text it had a horrible, negative after-image permanently burned into it. All voltages were in spec.

Per the datasheet for the blue 256x64 display...

"Luminance of active pixels will degrade faster than inactive pixels. Residual (burn‐in) images may occur. To avoid
this, every pixel should be illuminated uniformly." (from page 6)

I didn't realize oleds had a problem with burn in. I was hoping for something with VFD quality but much less current draw. This is definitely a big negative for my purposes. Oh well. Thanks for the heads up.
