Hello, I am in need of direction. I am very interested in learning how to use the Propeller and I do not know where to start. I started reading some material on Amazon and downloaded some things from the Parallax web site. It seems that I need to learn how to program in spin. The last time I programmed anything was 20 years ago and it was Cobal, so needless to say, I need lots of help. I want to be able to develope robots and control things. I am a degreed mechanical engineer. I was told from Parallax that a new kit is coming out for beginers in August, wanting to learn to program and make projects in Propeller. So, where can I start? Where can I learn how to program in Spin? I am a fast learner buit I can really use the help. Thanks

    For now, start with the Propeller Education Kit tutorials. Look at the "sticky" threads at the top of the thread list in the Propeller forum. Make sure you have a copy of the Propeller Manual. Also download the Hydra Manual. It has a lot of information on the video hardware if you're curious, but it also is a good supplement to the information in the Propeller Manual.

    Hello Yianie, welcome to the forums! In addition to what Mike identified, how about taking a look at the QuickStart hardware and some very basic examples:

    And see the application notes too:

    Be sure to see Gadget Gangsters tutorials too at

    And if you have any questions, you can always pick up the phone and call us if you prefer at 916 624 8333. Ask for Tech Support or an FAE (if you are designing a product). We are happy to have another customer!

    @Yianie

    Welcome to the forums!

    I'll second every resource that Ken mentioned as well as the PEkit stuff that Mike mentioned.

    Also, don't be afraid to ask questions here. Even if they feel simple. We are all at various stages of understanding the Propeller and many are on the ready to answer questions in the Propeller forums.

    The most important message I could convey is to enjoy the journey with the Propeller. Start with lighting the humble LED and move to trying out the Propeller's video abilities. (Graphics Demo) You'll find a lot of amazing capability under the hood of this chip.
