Hey Kenny, a non-answer from me since I'm working from home right now at elevation 6,700 feet. From this location it's dumping snow at the rate of 1-2" per hour. Watching the news it sounds like Rocklin area is getting hammered by thunder right now.

Yes, this is California - beaches and palm trees everywhere!

We probably won't get much reply from Rocklin right now because we just closed up the whole building. A pest sprayer guy showed up to do the warehouse but the fumes made their way into the front office so everybody has gone home for the day.

    This weather is really strange.

What do I need to order from Parallax to get you to throw in some extra snow?

We've had a few days of 90 degrees with high humidity here (southwest OH) and I'm ready for winter again (ok, I've been ready for a while now). Winters here are already too mild for me, but they're better than this.

The Tornado was a Category 0, so not a biggie but can still cause lots of damage. From the news, they made it look like it went right through Rocklin.

Heck, down here in So Cal, if it drizzles we go on "Storm Watch". We really shouldn't complain about Rain, Snow, or tiny Tornados compared to what they go through in the mid West.

On my drive home (from Rocklin towards Auburn, my wipers couldn't get the heavy rain off the windshield fast enough. At one point we were down to 30mph because of the rain and hail.

This is quite abnormal - we'll call it "Junuary" weather...

...90 degree weather in 80% humidity...
'One of the 170 (90 + 80) main reasons (other than corn and soybean fields ad infinitum) that I left Indiana for Washington State. Whenever I'm bummed about rain, I think of Midwest weather and smile. (I was referring, of course, to the temperature and humidity extremes. However, in view of the recent spate of deadly tornadoes, I'm sure this came across as inexcusably insensitive -- perhaps even schadenfreudisch -- and I apologize for any offense it may have caused.)

I'm the one (living in Oklahoma) that's supposed to get Tornado's... It's part of growing up for us. I've had more close calls where you can feel the in-flow of a Tornado than I care to think of. The thing is, if I were some place else where there wasn't a "Tornado season", I would feel out of place.

Had a Tornado warning for North Sacramento County about 3:30 this afternoon and at 4 the system that caused the warning was over my work (hop, skip, an a westward jump from Parallax). Got seriously pummeled by rain and almost hail for about 20 minutes while in a staff meeting. The main cloud was literally pitch black and heading towards Parallax after leaving my place. Really have no clue how to take this weather we have been having. I think mother nature took some sudafed with alcohol and now we're all in for the ride apparently.

Ken, saw on the news that the Pacific Trail had no backpackers today because of the 10 foot snowpack!

On a good note, the weather in the northern bay area was good enough for my brother to catch a 27 inch, 9.8 pound Rainbow Trout from Del Valle near Livermore. (and today is his birthday!)

I could live without tornado season. Give me a blizzard anyday.

I've only seen a tornado once, but they've been nearby other times. The time I saw one: several of us were leaving work at the same time. We walked out the door and turned around to face the building. The funnel cloud was going past the other side of the building - far enough away that we weren't in any danger. From inside, we didn't even know it was there (large building, no windows, our desks were actually underground).

I've driven through areas that tornados had passed through only minutes before. I've also gotten to work and had to go in the back door because there was a large tree blocking the front door as a result of a tornado (that caused a lot of damage in the area, but didn't damage this building - just several large adjacent trees).

Like I said, I'll take a blizzard anyday.

We had a few clouds yesterday in San Diego, which snarled traffic for miles. Today they expect the temperature to get up to about 72 degrees, which has everyone in a tizzy because they're wearing shorts and getting goosebumps on their legs. It's very confusing for the people here.

This weekend they expect it to be about 68, mostly blue skies, and calm winds coming in from the Pacific. Humidity low. Pray for us. We may not make it to Monday.

(Seriously, glad no one was hurt in yesterday's tornado. I heard it got some almond orchards.)

    Hmmmmmmmm.
About two weeks ago, a small twister touched down in Taipei, Taiwan and overturned an SUV. Now we are back to our usual incoming and outgoing typhoons. Weather certainly seems odd this year.
