    I downloaded an old book from 1958 about scopes.
    It occurred to me that if you could get some of the
    antique picture tubes from those old scopes and
    generate the needed voltages you could make some
    cool art projects using them with a propeller. The
    Prop's precision timing would allow some really great
    display hacks I would think.

    @Robert: 7 units at $49 each costs $343 total. When you buy 10, the total cost is $350. It's like the last 3 units are free. I guess you want one of THOSE.

    Could it be that the next generation of the Parallax Professional Development Board (or anybody's really) will be considered inadequate unless it comes with a built in scope?

    Mine arrived a couple of weeks ago. It's nicely designed and is very small. I'm planning on using it with my breadboards or as a simply user interface (its hackable).

    Looks like a DSO Nano: http://www.seeedstudio.com/depot/micro-digital-storage-oscilloscopedso-nano-p-512.html

    There's a newer version, too: http://www.seeedstudio.com/depot/dso-nano-v2-p-681.html?cPath=174&zenid=986f8c3213370c4ec80b7438b8c0b882

    You can find them at a number of places, typically for $90 - $100. I don't think I've seen one for $60, but I haven't looked.

    They start at about $70 including shipping on eBay, just search DSO Nano. The newer version is considerably more expensive. It's interesting that there are already people marketing accessories for these scopes, such as replacement batteries, cables, and even carrying cases.

    I usually don't quote ebay prices. Not that there is anything necessarily wrong with it, but it's too easy to find disreputable dealers (in general). But, yes, if you search there you can find lower prices.

    The new version of the 2 channel DSO Nano is typically $90-$100 (not ebay price). The 4 channel DSO Quad is about $200, a significant jump in price.

    @Bean

    As already stated, they are all over ebay for around this price.
    It's an ARM design I think.

    As said before, there is a new version out.
