I am Brian Boan, and I am entering the Server Design contest.
My entry to the Spinneret Web Server design contest will be a web server that parses post-computed video stream data to a web client for observing, controlling and manipulating 3D-generated stacked images and live video feed from a server-side compound microscope whose X-Y positioning, focusing and dimming functions are controlled remotely by the web client, either with an embedded Java applet or a physical remote controller Wifi-interfaced with the client-side computer. Through control data sent by the web client (I am using the Wii-Nunchuck controller for orientation data,) a critical feature of my design will allow a propeller chip or two to compute 3D-movements of a selected microscopic volume of interest on a slide, choose a specific slice of that sample volume and then reconstruct a 2D image of the slice for web delivery as directed client side. By having the movement data transformed server-side, I hope to create a seamless visual experience for the web client.
