Computer won't boot with PropPlug connected

I've only seen this problem on one of the dozen or so PC's I've used for the Prop...

The bios gets to the point where it looks for USB keyboards and stalls if the PropPlug is connected...

Anybody else seen this?

Is the Prop trying to send data during the PC's reboot? I've seen cases where Windows mistakes a Prop sending a data stream via USB for a mouse, but I've never seen such an interaction at the BIOS level.

Yes, I have. I also have the same type of issue with my work laptop and SD cards. Will not boot with an SD installed. From my research and from discussing it with a few PC gurus, it has something to do with how the BIOS acknowledges the FTDI device making it lock up or think it's a malfunctioning keyboard. With an SD card in my work laptop, the BIOS will completely halt with no explanation or notification. Took me a bit to figure it out the first time. I have a few computers that will not boot with any FTDI based device plugged in and it doesn't matter what OS is installed, because they lock up the same way even when no HDD is installed. Check for BIOS updates for your computer or try putting a USB hub in between since many BIOS' won't allow USB booting through a hub and that will prevent the BIOS from seeing the FTDI device.

I often have problems with USB devices if I stop using my laptop for some time and it goes into sleep mode. They often don't work properly when I start using it again, and I have to unplug them and plug them in again. I think the Prop Plug is one of them.

On my laptop using XP, often I cannot use any USB (keyboard and mouse excepted) reliably that is attached at boot time.

Yep. Seen it on my machines too. I simply turned off the USB boot option, and it worked on the one machine I had trouble with.

My little netbook will not boot if I forget and leave my USB
keychain camera plugged in, it just hangs. I use the 4gb
of flash in the cam like a thumb drive but it's a pain that it
    won't boot with it attached.
