What the heck are I80 and M68 systems??

I am busy looking into thin film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) technology
and how to interface it with BS2e.
So far it is pretty “normal” specification stuff.
Some on the specs are different for “I80 or M68 systems”.

Google did not provide clue what these acronyms(?) I80 or M68 represents.
And sometime they call them I-80 system or M-68 system.

Anything to do with US interstates or UK road numbering?
I doubt it.
Intel and Motorola? Maybe.
Any constructive or funny help ( I am getting tired) would be appreciated.

Cheers Vaclav

I guessing i80 would represent a typical Intel 8080 type 8 bit bus and M68 for Motorola 6800.

I think the i80 and m68 refer to the different memory bus architectures for the Intel 8080/8086 and its derivatives and the Motorola 6800 and its derivatives. Specifically, one had a Read/not Write line along with a Memory select line while the other had a separate Read and Write select line.

    Thanks guys.
The intereresting part is that the controllers for these displays have variety of data bus options - from 18 bits to 4!
That is where they thru these acronyms in.
    The spec has 141 pages!
    Time to quit.

A bit of documentation overkill - I80 and M86 are pretty much historic in interest. Most LCD applications are using a 4bit or 8bit bus.
