Another camera - TCM8230MD

Since there has been some limited interest on keychain spy cameras I have decided to post this in a new thread.
The device ( made by Toshiba) has been advertized since 2008. It comes in raw module, no plug and pray or breakout configuration.
However it is suspicious to me that the available specification http://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/Sensors/Imaging/TCM8230MD.pdf is marked Tentative.
And there are same comments from potential users today as were in 2008.
So apparently not much progress has been made since.
I wonder if anybody here has any experience with this device.
Please note - I you cannot constructively contribute to the subject ( using this camera ), please do not.
Thank you for understanding.

Sure would like to hear from those unfortunate souls.
My expereince with these multifunction IC is that you either got it right or you will spend few sleeples nights figuring where the bug is.
They build these without any means to step thru the programming and get feedback.
Do you want to keep yours? I suppose you do and the postage would be prohibitive anyway.
How about a trade? I am compiling list of unused samples I have.
Ferromagentic memory ( FM 24C256), DDS chips , MAX7219 ...

What processor were you thinking of using with them? It has to be quite fast; a 100 MIPS ARM, for instance, and have enough memory.
