Announcing uCProto: Prototyping for 28-40 pin dip IO & microcontrollers & QuickStart

While working on the new version of Propteus, Sapieha kept wanting to make it more generic - so it could be used for prototyping with other wide DIP devices, not just a Propeller.

Given the many interesting I2C and other I/O chips available in DIP28 - DIP40 format (not to mention other microcontrollers) being able to interface them to a propeller based stack of boards seemed like a good idea... thus uCProto was born.

When the QuickStart information was released, I was pleased to see that the position of 3.3V and GND matched where I have it on the 40 pin connector on prototyping boards; therefore Proteus & uCProto are QuickStart compatible!

uCProto Features:

Dimensions:

- 4.000"x3.125" board
- mounting holes compatible with Parallax mounting hole spacing
- work of art PCB layout by Sapieha

Footprints for:

- large double-density prototyping area
- VGA connector
- mini USB-B connector
- RCA jack
- mini DB9 serial connector
- 8 LED's
- one tactile pushbutton switch
- power on LED
- 2 screw terminal for Vin
- LM7805 based 5V power supply
- LM1117-3.3 based 3.3V power supply
- three mini power switches
- 16 servo headers
- DIP8 EEPROM
- PFC8563 based RTC circuit
- battery holder for RTC
- dedicated 40 pin footprint for Propeller or other 28-40 pin dip IC
- EXP1 & EXP2 10 pin headers, stacks with other Mikronauts boards
- HCOMM header
- EXP3 & EXP4 headers
- MorphBus / QuickStart compatible 40 pin header
- small 0.050" SMT (SOIC) prototype area on the back of the board

MSRP for the bare board is $12.95USD+s/h
