Need help getting PropPlug recognized on Mac

I have a 13 inch Mac Book Pro and an attempting to connect to a propeller chip with the PropPlug. I have had success in the past using the Arduino and that FTDI chip. For some (yet unknown reason I am not able to see the PropPlug.

Here is the message I see when trying to start BST:

Brads SpinTool Loader v0.05 - Copyright 2008,2009 All rights reserved
Compiled for i386 Darwin at 09:34:59 on 2009/07/03
No filename specified - will only try and find device
Unable to open port : /dev/tty.usbserial
logout

Any ideas for how to correct this?

FTDI VCP Driver is installed.

Thanks in advance. :thumb:

Just changing the USB cable (from the expendable one that came with the PropPlug to a normal one) changed my result to this:

Brads SpinTool Loader v0.05 - Copyright 2008,2009 All rights reserved

The Propeller has to be powered for the Loader to see it. Make sure that the FTDI driver is properly installed and that you have a good USB cable. I use a MacBook with BST all the time and it works fine.

Well after a few restarts it sees the Propplug. Now it is not finding the Propeller yet though. I have a Spinneret with the protoboard powered via 5 volts.

Something's wrong about the connection between the PropPlug and the Propeller or the Propeller isn't getting any power. At this point, the Propeller doesn't need a crystal or an EEPROM, just power and a working serial connection to BST (or its Loader).

Sorry about posting this on another thread. I was treating PropPlug as one issue and the Propeller Chip as another. I am new the the Parallax Forum and don't want to start off on the wrong foot. That being said. I am thrilled to have them up and running. Thanks for your Re. Going to dig into the project more over the weekend.

    Thanks again!

    Best,

    Luke
