daisy chaining the parallax digital io board 27113

Most shift register chips have a data out pin that allows daisy chaining multiple chips together. Does the Parallax Digital I/O board have this capability?

Thanks!

The serial shift registers used (74HC165 and 74HC595) have daisy chain pins, but they're not connected on the boards themselves. You could add appropriate jumper wires as you're assembling the boards. Between the datasheets for the shift registers and the schematic for the I/O Board, you should be able to figure out what's needed.

Thank you for the fast and informative reply!

It occurs to me that if I had multiples of this I/O board I could use different processor I/O pins to strobe each of them, but share data lines. I could still drive several without using a lot of pins.

Still, to the powers-that-be at Parallax, bringing out the daisy chain pins on a future rev would be really handy!

    Thanks!
