I've also enjoyed watching the progress of Ted. I have a set of these treads that have been waiting to be used. I'm busy with another bot so building a bot for the treads will have to wait a while.
I noticed you have a set of Tamiya motors with gearboxes. Is there a reason you're not using those? Do you know how they compare (speed/power) with the servos? I have a motor and gearbox set I plan to use with my set of treads unless there's a good reason not to.
Once you start using your Propeller on robots, your BS2s will start to get dusty (at least that's what happened to mine).
I agree with you on adding a laser. Robots just need lasers.
Thanks for taking time to share this. I know it takes time to take pictures and upload them.
Just wanted to add some weight info. Fully equipped, Ted trips the scales at 23 ounces compared to Bob, my Boe Bot at 16-1/4.
Remove the camera and Ted is at about 17-1/2 ounces. I could fiddle with power sources and get that number lower, but the tracked chassis doesn't seem to mind a little extra weight,.
I got this a couple of years ago at Fry's in Concord, CA. It was one of those infamous "restocked" items,
Ah, one of the famous restocked goodies by the famous Frye brothers.
I'll check their stores around here to see what they have these days. It hasn't occurred to me there are wireless USB webcams. Or is this a wireless 802.11 IP camera?

This is a 2.4 GHz wireless cam that transmits to a base that connects to a teevee via RCA connectors
It's basically a surveillance camera, with sound. Of course the sound is a bit overwhelmed by the whirring of the servos.

The Tamiya motors... I haven't used them because I'm still working on a compatible motor controller circuit. Not a big priority right now.
I've run the Tamiya chassis with the twin motor gearbox... albeit without any outside control. It runs faster, but you have to watch it run in an unalterable course into any number of hazards.
