The perfect security system, or is it

I was thinking about using an RFID card for the SGS (secure gate system) for doors and the yard door, but I thought about it, and I got a subtle idea, to check the store for wireless serial communication systems, and I found the XBee. Since the XBee is a transponder/reciever it should be able to recieve signals from a control system (manually operated) to allow an electrical lock system when to open. But there are two major kinks in my plan, 1: I dont know if this will actually work, 2: If it will work, who will manually operate it? and just 1 more kink 3: I thought of adding an Optical System, but I doubt it will work with the XBee. Also 4: What would be my locking suystem (where can I find an electrical locking system)
Please answer:
1: Should I use a plain RFID Lock or Should I stick to my optimal plan (above)?
2: If optimal plan, how do I implement, or correct my ideas?

Commonly for doors, there's a solenoid operated strike plate and a conventional locked knob or handle. The door is normally kept locked and the strike plate is kept activated so that the door can't be opened. If a correct RFID tag is presented, the controller activates the solenoid in the strike plate and the lip in the strike plate is released so the locked door can be opened. I'm sure you can find solenoid operated strike plates via a web search.
[Breaking a window carefully, because it just doesn't feel right, is a different proposition from doing so recklessly.]
You definitely need a back-up, in case of failure, power outage, snafu.
[Not particularly Propeller here.]
PE -- What were you going to "use" the RFID for, like a credit-card to jack the bolt?
As PJ notes, it's not clear what you were going to use the RFID for. I assume the presence of a valid RFID tag near one of the RFID readers is supposed to activate the associated solenoid that's part of the strike plate mechanism.
