Stupid question about power supply voltage...

Hello out there. I'm highly embarrassed that I'm asking such a fundamental question.

I have an audio part that requires a -12VDC supply... is it possible to produce that from a 12V wall-wart?

Yes, reverse the connections if necessary.

You can use a voltage divider to create common reference above 0V. I assume you need P-P voltage of 24V for your a/c signal? You could also connect 2 identical 12V wall-warts in series and use the common connection as a ground reference. That would give you -12V to + 12V you need.

Here are sketches of what I mean if it will help.
