From the posts, I believe that he has trouble typing, not trouble spelling the words. He mentioned something about "dragon" and "mic", which indicates that his hands are having some problems at the moment and he requires text-to-speech.

I am glad You like to read this forum mickal,

I find it educational, interesting, and at times, provocative...:innocent:

I understand You have limited feeling in Your hands, if You don't mind talking about it,
what is the nature of Your disability? some folks here might not be aware of what is required
to communicate with a keyboard... it is easy to take for granted with no disabilities.

A quick click tells Me that You have 62 post's, most are well thought out, and most have excellent responses.
It seems as though You had a handle on the disability, is the condition worsening? I hope not.:frown:

Anyway, I wish good luck to You and Yours mickal..
as an aside, be cautious of suspicious emails that ask for passwords and other personal information.
I would hate to think someone here on this forum having passwords PHISHed.

@doggiedoc, I'd rather give him the benefit of doubt.. We live in a world that is very cruel and non understanding to someone with a disability. I'd personally rather take the chance of being trolled than add to the problem.

@Mickal, if you can, share with others how you are overcoming this in your hobby. Feel welcome here. 98.9% of everyone in these forums are of high caliber and I'm proud to have met many of them at the expos.

    For Mickal......

ane. Hands work but no feeling so an be hard to tell if he hit the keys properly and is much slower to type he broke his neck october 2010, spend weks over christmas in hospital having spinal op. still hsving physio at Materer hospital. can now walk with a cane.

Typing short messages on forum not a bg problem but writing letters is more difficult.

So wondering if Dragan would be a god move also for coding on prop tool. Then on the other hand while writng anything I think tping give a bitmoerme tme to think aboou yourur codng than smple speaing into amcropone but both together could work well.

@ mickal and whiteoxe, I believe mickal's name was familiar because I had answered at least one of his posts previously, and I checked to see if that was correct. If typing is as difficult for him as this thread indicates then I am both astonished and impressed by the clarity of his previous posts and will answer any questions he posts as long as I can understand the post and have the required info.

So if this is true then he must have had a serious set back in recovery since 3/23/2011 when he composed this:

Bill, hope you dont mind me asking my own camera (video) in your thread ? I bought a great 2007 dual core Dell for $290. The fire wire port on it is the 'little one' but that is what is on my vid camera. So the 'big end' of the cable for fire wire wont fit ? weird cause on the desktop i threw in the industrial bin :) had a port for the 'big end' . Do i just need an adapter ?

Thanks everyone for your response. I really feel a tiny bit silly, feels like Im advertising my challenges which was never my intention. Especially as on the days I go to rehab there are people there with far greater challenges in front of them. I can get a little down about the feeling and loss of dexterity in my hands but if im not lazy/tired my typing is fine .

I have a friend who has soldered a few things recently like pins onto an nokia lcd screen, and touch pad and xbee adapter, keypad.. I will be trying to do more of that myself in the future, difficult but possible.

Also the damage to the spinal cord can keep repairing for 12 months so Ive got another 6 months of small improvements.
I have worked mostly on farms and construction sites and mining. That is no longer an option , this forum and field of electronics I find great. Even threads I cant really fully grasp are very.interesting. Like members building ide, compilers, prop languages. Very cool stuff by very smart people.

No worries, Mickal. The spinal cord damage can be very tough and difficult for you, but I know you will overcome those problems. Please stay strong!

I sure hope you get better, I couldn't imagine having hardly any feeling myself. You're fortunate you've at least found something else you are interested in, many people don't seem to get that far when they can no longer work their original jobs.

Either way, God bless and good luck with whatever challenges you choose to work towards! I'll look forward to when you start posting your own completed projects.

mickal, please don't feel silly :-)

We are all very glad you are here. I wonder if something like skype might be of benefit
for you, although the act of typing may be a useful addition to your rehab.

I'm certain you will be able to grasp electronics and programming. You don't really see
stupid people on forums like this one....even the desire to hang around a place like this
proves that a person is pretty damned smart! :-)

@doggiedoc, I'm absolutely certain that you would NEVER mount a personal attack
on someone struggling to overcome a disability.

You are afflicted with the gifts of sarcasm and suspicion, as am I.

BTW: are you really a doggiedoc? I mean a veterinarian?
I just love animals and caring for them would be such a cool profession :-)

First I have to say I know where DOC was coming from in this thread. He had me cracked up with the pencil joke :-) Sorry about the 'ffffffffffffffffffffffff' I was multitasking (answering questions) , obviously poorly and did not realise I had done it. Also I probably do have it in me to go over to the dark side and pull off such a stunt :) Alas in this case it is not so.

The day before the big operation where I had been warned I could come out of it totally paralyzed, I was making jokes with my brother comparing myself to Stephen Hawking. I said it might be ok for him with a massive IQ and lots to think about ,but with my level of intelligence could he hold up pretty picture books for me to stare at if that happened

Your way too nice Holly !!!! BTW , I already use Skype but rarely, not sure what your angle there is, do you mean to chat with hobbyists ? I have found learning Spin much easier than I imagined. I don't Spin well yet but I have had the most excellent help from PM's or thread replies. I have enjoyed looking at other peoples drivers and seeing how bytes are treated, rotated, Anded etc. Some of the operators and pipes still need a bit more attention but that I am sure would be the case with ANY language. The OBEX is gold too, jeez, you dont even have to know how to program the prop

My regret is knowing about the propeller for a year and steering clear of the whole field because I had the impression Spin was leaning on a very esoteric side of how its world turned. And I was not wanting to pay up for a basic stamp.

In both cases above I was in error .

Ha! Just consider this forum as one huge infinitely fascinating picture book to stare at. It's been working for me for years now:)

You are not alone. I to skipped over the Prop for a long while as it seemed to be so "off the wall". Shame.

Luckily it sounds like you have a curious mind and a lot to learn re: electronics, micros, programming etc, etc. You are going to have a lot of fun.
