Basic Stamp Kit Question

Hello,

Just starting out...

If I purchased the "Stamps Works Experiment kit & What'sMicrocontroller? Parts Kit and Text" together, Will I have any difficultyfollowing along with the "What's a Microcontroller?" book because it's using a different board? and or will it just make it that more complicated for a new person?

Or...should I keep it simple and stick with the "Basic Stamp DiscoveryKit USB" and then get the professional board later?

You should do fine with the Professional Development Board. It's larger. The breadboard area is larger, and the connection points for power and the Stamp I/O pins are in different places, but, once you look at the pictures and labels, you should be fine.
