Weaving Carbon Fiber Tube

Amazingly complex loom weaves carbon fibers for Lexus. Great mechatronic problem, definitely needs a Prop instead of a Stamp on this one!

    I watched the video but I did not have the sound on so my comments may or may not make sense. If they talked about this in the video then please ignore my comments.

    The machine they were showing was doing what I would typically call braiding and not weaving. The machines that do this are almost identical to the machines that braid shoelaces (old technology).

    In fact, when I was in school one of the other students converted an old shoelace braider to braid composite fibers - just like you see in the video. It made a lot of noise and generated some dust when working with dry fibers but it worked pretty well.
