There are multiple places in the site documentation were SPIN is touted as beginner while Propeller Assembly is touted as Intermediate. It seems that this is quite subjective, while it may be true to some, there are some to whom Propeller assembly is a lot simpler to learn than SPIN (myself included). I have spoke to many of my friends who have various levels of experience with the propeller, and it seems to be almost a 50/50 split on witch language is considered simpler to learn.

    David,

I typically abstain from spelling and grammar corrections in the forum, since they're often met with hostility; but I've encountered this misstep in your posts more than once, so I know it's not a typo, and it's not something that spell-check would catch. 'Just thought you'd want to know. :)

    David,

I agree with your statements about not labeling Spin or ASM as having various levels of difficulty over one another. In fact, in the past we made some similar errors in our marketing presentation by identifying the Propeller as an "advanced" processor. This is probably true next to the BASIC Stamp, but in some cases it served as a deterrent from getting a few customers started.

In May you'll see a new side of Parallax's chip business. One of the improvements you may appreciate is that we'll simply show our customers what Spin/ASM languages look like at their first mention. At the moment we seem to describe them as looking like this or that, causing some customers concern over 'learning' a new language which they might find somewhat familiar if we just show them how it looks instead of pointing them to a reference guide.

Your point is well-taken and I agree it's not good to label certain languages as having some ease/difficulty compared to other ones. Programmers can decide for themselves.

Phil has busted me for grammatical errors, too. You're not alone so don't take it personally - he's just helping us make improvements in our writing ability.

    Thanks,

    Ken Gracey

    Phil:
Thank you. I am a terrible speller. For somereason on my system that is not caught by spell check. Oh, duh 'witch' is a valid word (Refers to Wiccans), I will try to keep note of that. Thank you again.

    Ken:
Thank you for this note. I hope that the changes help to market the propeller. The more you sell the better the chances of them becoming more affordable for poor people like me. I am working on a design using 64 propellers (and I only own 2), and it is surprising how much it will cost to complete. The design needs 512 cogs to run well.
