I've heard chiptunes in various forms of popular music in the past year but didn't know it had a special name. I remember thinking, "hey, that's a sound bite from Nintendo Mario Brothers Level I, and Pole Position." Given the wide capabilities of the Propeller chip, it's not too difficult now to recreate these sounds, thanks to Chip and Phil for the sound code. The Propeller chip is be a good replacement for an old sound chip, especially when the old chips are only available in very limited numbers and the Propeller chip is so capable.

Personally, I find chiptunes to be the perfect programming music. No lyrics to distract me, it's upbeat so I stay positive when my code inevitably doesn't work the way I want it to, and it's plain just fun!
