Does anyone have an idea of how to use the DS1620 as a stand alone thermostat? There are several objects out that describe applications as a thermometer but none using the stand alone function. I want to use it to run a 12V fan using the Tcom pin to open and close my mosfet.

You could use the DS1620 object in the OBEX:

It has "Set HI" and "Set Low" functions that would set you high and low temp range, and then you woould just monitor THi and TLow, or the TCom pin for the set points. The chip can be used stand alone after the thresholds are set.

Take a look at experiment #29 in the Stamp Works manual for more information on the chip as a thermostat.
