For instance, some programs fail to run if they are run by a SPIN interpreter that is not running in cog 0. ... I agree - but unfortunately they're not my programs!
Those programs need to be hunted down and shot on sight -- no questions asked. 'Sorry to say this but, by accommodating them, you're abetting a bad programming practice. It's much better to enforce good habits than to be an enabler for bad ones. You have the power, man!

If I could figure out a way to detect this case, then I could put up an appropriate error mesage. Otherwise I am just going to continue to accomodate it. The only alternative is to get emails from annoyed people who will say "but my program runs fine when loaded by the Parallax loader - how come it doesn't run when I use Payload/Catalyst to load it? Your program must be Smile!" (this has already happened, by the way!). :frown:
