I think the author of that is wrong, when he say's Dosimeters are not neccesary.. on the contrary.. they WILL be all the rage soon enough.

Will You go for the "Trucker Cap" style, or the more sensible "Pocket Protector" style, of course,

Since alpha particles are the worry. Use HD CCD's.
The propeller could be used with HD CCD's to do Alpha Particle detection.
