This is probably a newbie question (I'm a newbie !)...

Is it possible to use the USB port in a Proto Board to talk with a USB flash drive ?

Thanks

I wish I could give you a better answer than no..

The best Propeller storage options are the EEPROM, an SD card, or serial data exchange to a connected PC.

What are you trying to accomplish?

I'm just looking for the easiest way for storage. SD cards were my first thought, but with a USB port on board, I started thinking...

The SD card configuration is usually best bet for Propeller storage. It's fairly straightforward, uses 4 I/O pins, and there are several plug-and-play boards which can be had.

The USB port on the Protoboard is a USB client. In order to talk to a USB flash drive (or any other USB client), you need a USB host. The Parallax Memory Stick Datalogger is a USB host and you can plug in USB flash drives. It would talk to a Propeller through a separate serial port. Attaching an SD card to a Propeller is easier, cheaper, and faster.

Also I second Mike Green the SD is a little easier.

I have two Parallax Memory Stick Dataloggers. Very few of my USB drives will work with them.

I like SD much better for datalogging. I think SD is faster as well. I've had very few SD cards not work with the SD drivers available for the Propeller.

I agree SD is a good option.
You'll find robust code, working even with no pull ups. So you can buy (or make) a compliant adapter. There re many available, cheap and good. But you can also use a stripboard or a perf board little bit of time to create your reader.
On the net you can also find instructions to use a micro sd, soldering the micro SD to SD adapter pads.
