BOE interfaced to WRT150N v1.1

Has anyone interfaced a WRT150N router to a BOE? I'd like to run the router in client mode.
Any help and or links would greatly be appreciated.

The WRT150N is a WiFi router. The BOE has no WiFi capability without adding significant external hardware. What are you trying to do?

    Hello Mike,

I'm putting a small robot together. I would like it to communicate over our home network. I had an extra router after we upgraded. I have heard about hacking routers to include a serial port. So I'm thinking about interfacing a BOE to the WRT150n v1.1 router to provide WiFi to the robot.

With a robot, your power budget is important. Routers are small these days, but not that small. If you're not rushed, consider waiting for Parallax's WiFi interface, available "real soon now". There's a thread on it's progress. See message #15 here.

Good luck on your hacking research.

    Thanks Mike,

I am concerned about power consumption. I'll continue researching mod to the router but I'll wait until Parallax comes out with the wifi module before my router goes on the robot. Maybe I could use the modified router for something else like a bridge or something. I would like to do some data logging in a greenhouse. So maybe I'll refocus the router project that way. That project will use atleast a stamp if not a BOE.

I have been using a robot with WRT150N, a plugin serial to wifi and a Basic Stamp with proportional control algorithm for years. It has a wifi camera and I use a VB6 interface that uses the mouse on the PC to control it in proportional speed direction - via serial data. I got the serial to wifi from Mouser(a bit expensive) at the same time I got a Parallax PINK... still have the Pink in the box as the aprox 1" x 1" board plugged into my board header ( home-brew with H-bridge) and I was off! Left mouse has to be held and robot goes in direction of mouse forward, back, slow turn, spins, about everything one can do... right mouse triggers mosfet to a kick solenoid to kick a soccer ball... guess you could fix it to play soccer from any place with good DSL and wifi.. I have dialup !!! in the great north-woods of Wisconsin...... I am not at work - can't remember the name and turned up nothing so far.... I use a small gel cell 12 volt and the robot runs all day ! My PWM comes from a 555 using triangle wave through dual comparator and a dual digital pot that is controlled from the serial to BS2SX to it.... Using the same scheme with R/C for High School robotics class - kids improvised and use a license plate camera in place of WIFI ....
