Hi Everybody!
Does anyone know of a good site where I can find information about different components, such as capacitors, resistors, crystals and other basic components. Like a educational information database.
I a beginner at these kind of things and I find it really hard to get a grasp of the different components actual function.
Any good books perhaps?

I've used it ever since I started electronics and I contribute it to most of what I know. If you look under schematics, it has about 26,000 circuits, most of which do not rely on a microcontroller and show how basic components work together.
If you are looking for useful circuits, this site is a nice small collection: http://www.sentex.ca/~mec1995/circ/circuits.htm
I found it through Discover Circuits, and I found that most of his projects were very well documented. He also has several VERY nice tutorials.
Then of course, if you want the basic definitions of how electrical components work, Wikipedia has some nice articles.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resistor
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inductor
You will want to know about these components and concepts have a good understanding of them:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrated_Circuits
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microcontroller
Hope this helps,
