Glad I Didn't Think of This

I'm all for LEDs, we need more, on just about everything, but this... it's just dumb --

It's probably patented, which is sillier all the more.

(Thankfully, it doesn't do 'yellow'!)

I dunno, I kind of like it. I can think of many times I took a shower and thought, "Y'know I wish the water were blue"

I agree, yellow is a bit strange.

It does red, though. I see yet another remake of "Psycho" on the horizon.

What's wrong with this? If it was on a short hose, I'd buy one.. :)

Color changes based on water temperature.. Cool..

I think it's pretty awesome! Visual representation of water temperature range - good idea!

If it had a mic input, too, it would make an interesting feedback for singing in the shower.

If you have more money then brains, you could go with this model: http://www.lightinthebox.com/Chrome-LED-Shower-Head--Without-Shower-Arm--0599-QH325B_p161073.html?litb_from=paid_amazon
I'd be sending it back shortly after I hit my head on the corner of it, and it doesn't even determine temperature! Actually, the one originally posted was pretty cool.

We have one very similar to that. "We" had to have an exotic shower head after rebuilding the bathroom.... it didn't cost $250 but still it's over-rated. I prefer the six streams at 100psi instead of 1000 rain drops any day.

Of course my comment about wishing my water were blue was sarcastic.... Sarcasm is kind'a hard to transfer over text.

I think it needs a mirrored ball too.

Pulsate the water, strobe the LEDs in time with the pulsation and step into a column water that seems frozen in time and space.

If you have two nozzles with two different colors and they converge, do you get additive mixture of the colors?

The mind reels at the possibilities of shower head/LED design.

Or maybe we oughta be curing cancer instead...

No, I think it brilliant. Assuming it really does power itself from the water flow nicely. I want one.

I wonder how it's powered. Maybe there's a cord that plug directly into a wall outlet.

According to ThinkGeek, the one they sell is powered by a small turbine:

By the way this not a new item I saw these about 10 years ago or so some where I can not remember where I even had one of them and thought it was real cool it was with white LEDs and it had a fair amount of light that came out from it

I knew it was just a matter of time before humans would bathe in a shower of lasers. Now if it could only drop my shower times to under a minute, and eliminate the need to dry off, then the several thousand year wait for human ingenuity to reach this point was well worth it.

Star Trek the Next Generation had "Sonic Showers".

@markaeric, maybe you should take advantage of the sale on Pings and build yourself a sonic shower. Zero dry time.

Now that has great potential. Who is going to be first off the block to build one?

I agree as well. You can have a whole bathroom of LEDs from the shower head to the shink.

This thread has had me thinking that this would be an interesting way to supplement light in the bathroom using generated power. I'll bet some sort of Hydro charger could at least keep some batteries charged for bathroom use if you tapped both the incoming water for the entire room.

That's a swell idea Jeff! I wonder if there are any off the shelf water turbines that could be adapted.

It's so sad that water wheels are seen as progress.
They had their place, long ago and far away.
Oh well. Don't sell your interests in sealing wax and corsets - prosperity is right around the corner.
