It doesn't seem to be harmful or otherwise malicious, so I've opened it back up. It's easy to lock threads, maybe unfortunately so, all it takes is a double-click by a mod/admin on the thread icon. I've done it by accident before, since the same action on the thread-view marks that whole forum as read.
