Analog to digital converter

We are two students that are currently trying to make a guitar tuner using the propeller chip. We are trying to measure the frequency of sounds produced by guitars. However, we are not sure if there is an analog to digital converter on the propeller chip. If there is an ADC how does it work? Are there certain ports that are assigned to convert analog to digital on the propeller? Is the analog to digital converter built into the propeller, or do we have to get one ourselves? If we were to use a microphone to receive the sounds, how would we wire it to the propeller? Example codes will also help.

Download and read the application note on the cog counters, AN001. This includes a discussion of doing analog to digital conversion using the counters. There are several sample programs in the Object Exchange that work with a microphone on the Propeller Demo Board. Download (here and here) and look at them. Also look at the schematic of the Demo Board (here). It's important to keep leads short in the ADC input circuitry for best accuracy and least noise.
