As announced on this week's Hanselminutes podcast, Netduino Mini is the third member of the Netduino family.

Technical Specifications (Netduino Mini)
Where to Buy

A few fast facts about the Netduino Mini:
  • Teeny. Tiny. 1.2"x0.6" (3.0 cm x 1.5 cm) small. DIP-24 form factor.
  • Can be powered by a 9V battery. Or an AC power adapter. Or power from a USB TTL cable.
  • Programmed via RS232 (breakout, adapter, or just cut the end off a cable) or TTL (3.3V USB TTL cable, etc.).
  • Pin compatible with BASIC Stamp 2 boards -- you can use it with most/all the Parallax kits/robots.
  • 16 digital pins. 4 are also analog inputs. Includes I2C, SPI, UART, 4x PWM.
  • 4-layer PCB. ENIG (gold immersion). RoHS, Pb-free. Industrial temperature rated.
  • $29.95 MSRP (single units), volume discounts available from some resellers.
  • Available worldwide in 3-4 weeks; some resellers will be taking pre-orders.

Yet another Sign of The Apocalypse!

PE - Why does the Spin_Stamp cost so much, is it that regulator? Maybe it'd be cheaper as a kit?

There are already shortages and I will bet the Netduino will be a surface mount chip because they started producing the Arduino Uno with a surface mount chip.

It would just about have to be surface mount to fit it in a BS2 package.

It is pretty neat that yet another chip maker is after Parallax's lime light in the hobby world.
    '
What would really be neat is a Prop based BS2. Using a similar editor and language as the old BS2's.
(Sorry I drifted off............ What in the world was I thinking )

I think anything based on .Net will be aimed more at programmers than other market segments. Pin compatibility with the stamp seems like less of an issue now than ten years ago.

PJ Allen, got me. I can't think of a good reason. I'll ask Lauren to lower it to $29.99, not to compete with this 24-pin Arduino but because it simply shouldn't be so expensive. Thanks for the business tip!

Anyway, we welcome them to the 24-pin socket world! I'd like to see their method of putting the legs onto the PCB (not easy to automate).

    Ken,

I like good sound business decisions and lowering the price was another good move on your part. That's what I like in a company and keep up the good work.

    I'm really digging my SpinStamps.
I highly recommend these, especially for a Propeller beginner.
The DIP40 is cumbersome and the PropProtos have no
    solderless breadboard.
(I think the "PEK Labs" should have focussed on these.)
You don't have to build up the 5V and 3V, but making a little
3V3 supply with a 7803SR to go with it is beneficial.

**Make sure that both GND pins do get connected to GND,
as I think I was encountering an issue for having not.**

I'm going to use this for my "Propeller Handheld" instead of my
Propstick idea. I have a great name for it, it's not Propeller Handheld,
but I'm withholding that till I unveil/present the project.

OK Ken I have just fell in love . the spin stamp is less then a BS2 yet is still a module so its EEPROM and its other guts are allrearry mounted

this is JUST the chip i need to rplace the BS2 in my long term projects ,,

I just hope I can learn prop basic so can port my stuff off my BS2 stuff..

    thank you ken !!!
BTW I met the man who puts the legs on the BS2's .

This is a significant advance. The spinstamp made no sense at $50/chip. $30 is much more reasonable for stamp replacement uses.
