First Propeller Program Running, but have small question

All--
I've had a PPDB for a couple of weeks, but only managed to begin working with it this morning. My question is simple: It is unclear to me if I need to supply a 470 ohm resistor when using the LEDs on the PPDB.
My next step, now that I know I can blink an LED (I''m using the resistor, but don't know if it is necessary), will be to play with a simple servo that I obtained in one of the Parallax kits at one time or another. Any comments concerning this would be appreciated.
Once I get my feet on the ground for a bit with the PPDB, I think Spin will be fairly easy to pick up. My next robot is definitely going to be Propeller/Spin driven, hopefully talking to a PC via Parallax's new WiFi.
Thank you, as always, for the help.

If you add your own LEDs you will need a resistor in series with it.
Welcome to the propeller forum.
