My Prop powered bot!!

Remember awhile back when i gave that tutorial on how to hack servos? Well, this is what it produced. A cool little Prop powered bot. I think it works pretty well so far and i will need to find a better power source(I am thinking sealed lead-acid). This thing has a LOT of torque. This could probably climb a wall if it could stick to it. I am also waiting on a better RF module with more range(2 kilometers). Any suggestions??

    Hi Ravenkallen.

Very nice Prop Bot, yes I think you need some rechargable batteries.

Look forward to see how you improve this BOT.

    Regards,

Ravenkallen, this is very nice! I finally got to see the youtube video but I had to make my own clear weather. Keep up the good work. Can you make this into a post at the Parallax Forum Projects section?

Very awesome! I like you use of rubber band for traction.

Could you use a 7.2 volt NiMH battery like for R/C vehicles?

    Nice 'Bot, Ravenkallen.

    2 km range? Sounds interesting!

    Thanks everybody!!
@Humanoido... Uh, i will try to post it in the completed projects forum when i have the time. I am not to good at drawing schematics, but i give it a shot...

@DoggieDoc... Yeah, the rubber bands give it a LOT more traction. I haven't given it much thought about NiMH's for a power source, but i will look into it. The robot pulls a lot of current so i need something that can dish it right out.

@Erco... Yeah, i am waiting for one of these to come in. It came from Honk-Kong, so it is taking forever:)

On my stingray, I ran 2 of the 7.2v R/C batteries from radioshack in parallel. They are rated for 3000 mA/h each if I remember right. The NiMH can really dish out the current if the motors need it.

@Doggiedoc... Whoa, 3 amp-hours is a lot and to in parallel would be 6. That just might do the trick. How much did you buy yours for?

I don't recall, but they are probably listed on Radio Shack's site.

Cool Bot! I'm probably a bit slow but is that a 6 volt lantern battery on the back? Kinda hard to determine scale on my monitor.

@ajward... Yes, it is a alkaline 6 volt lantern battery. I just bought a 12 volt, 7AH sealed lead-acid battery from Radioshack today, so i will be throwing that on soon:)
