S2

Purchased S2 before Christmas from Solarbotics. The gui included has good help files, but I would like to learn spin.

Especially after seeing you tube video of an S2 writing "saints".

The propeller tool for S2 has the help section, manual and some others grayed out. Eventually found the propeller manual 1.1 online. But it suggests looking at the tutorials in the propeller tool help.

Can't do that because it isn't available. Why?

First suggestion: have links in the help section to the various documentation online. As a newbie, we don't always know exactly where everything might be online.

Second, if there is a cost for the complete help files, maybe this could be an option at purchase time.

Thanks for any help

The Propeller Tool provided with the GUI is a bare-minimum version intended for GUI users who don't need to know a lot about Spin but who still want to see the Spin code produced by the GUI. If you want to program the S2 in Spin, download the complete Propeller Tool package from parallax.com and use it instead. It includes not only the Help files and documentation you need, but also the Spin library.

I'm sending this post along internally to those whom it will concern, and thank you for the suggestion.

One additional item: After installing the full-blown Prop Tool, be sure to copy the S2.spin file from its original location in the GUI's Editor subfolder to either the Prop Tool's library folder or to your own Spin projects folder. That way it will be available for use by your Spin programs.

Thank you Bump. This is what I needed. Have been on the download page a few times, but thought that propeller tool was what I had. The question and answer page is completely new to me. Spent some time there today. Thanks again.

Thanks for the responses Phil. Hadn't thought of copying the S2 spin file.
