is it possible to read pin like this

can you guys look at this and tell me if is possible to get the value for the pin in use
0 to 5 volt or 0 to 256

the portmeter is 1000 ohm but on pin 9 it varies from 0 to 1000 ohm.

do i need to put in resistans on pin 8 and connect it too Vss.

I believe you are going to need RCTIME. Look this up in the manual. Everything is there with a description and a schematic
