LCD character output

I know that BS2 P versions of the STAMP provides a handy output to an LCD display.

Is there a way that I can create output to an LCD display using a boring old standard BS2 ?? - I'd love to know if this is possible - or if i have to shell out for another processor just to have a play ?

What type of LCD do you have, is it parallel or serial? If it's parallel you can use experiment #11 in the "StampWorks" text. Here is a link for the download:

...STAMP provides a handy output to an LCD display...
It is natural to include an additional basic functions in a new interpreter chip.
That does not mean that the original way to work with the LCD cannot be used anymore.

And the LCD commands for the BS2P are really restrictive to a certain family of LCD controllers.

Brilliant advice as ever, ---- I got the HD44780 for ebay (cost less than £3.00 with Post and packaging) so just wanted to tinker about, but not to spend any more money until I could make it work.
